An ornate reclaimed Edwardian cast iron tiled fire insert with fire brick, fire stool and pine fire surround. The fire has a very pretty design, typical of the era, with a decorative border featuring acanthus leaves. There is a larger leaf and lilly design on the canopy smoke hood. The fire retains its original, shaped, front bars. The fire has a set of green tiles on either side of the fire opening. The tiles have a brick style design with circular border detailing. Please note the tiles have not yet been secured into the fire. We can secure the tiles using plaster of paris before collection or the tiles can be left and changed by purchaser if preferred, please let us know at time of purchase your preferred option. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire has an RD number on the back and although it is hard to read, we believe it to perhaps be 355029, dating it to 1900-1909. The fire brick and fire stool are included in the price but if not required we can reduce the price by £95, please let us know before purchase if you do not wish to have these items. The fire is paired with a reclaimed, stripped pine, fire surround. The surround has a simple design with mouldings on the crossbar. The fire is in good condition but has some signs of wear and age, as expected of antique items. The back and the underside of the fire stool have surface rust. There are some knocks and chips to the tiles but no major breaks. There is some staining and crazing to the tile enamel. The iron has some casting marks and light scratches. The pine surround has some surface splits, chips and knocks. The fire has a great deal of character and is ideal for adding period charm to a home.
