A pretty, late Georgian / early Victorian, cast iron fire insert and reclaimed pine fire surround. The fire dates to C. 1840 and has a lovely period appearance with an arched fire opening that has a rope style border. The top plate has a flower design and there is decorative detailing on either side of the original, curved, front bars. The fire is paired with a simple and classic style stripped pine surround. The surround is ready for purchaser to apply a finish to suit. The fire is of the perfect size for decorative use in a bedroom or for a smaller reception room. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a fantastic finish. The fire is in good reclaimed condition with some small signs of use and some slight damage, as expected of antique items. The back has some surface rust. The front of the fire has some light scratches, pitting and marks and there is some light tarnish and surface rust to the grill. The top plate has a small amount of damage to one corner. There are some small chips to the concrete fire back but is in good, solid condition. The fire surround has some small marks, chips and fine surface cracks, some of which have been filled, that do not affect its structural integrity. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is ideal for adding charm to a home and is a lovely example of period design.
