A very attractive large cast iron fire insert. The insert is a replica of a Georgian design and is a vintage antique made approximately 70 - 80 years ago. The fire is a deep horseshoe shape and has a large arched opening which is finely decorated with acanthus leaves and decorative scrolls. There pretty designs continue at the top of the curved front bars, on the ashpan cover and at the top of the fire back. The concrete fire back has a ribbed finish. The fire has a very large top flap and we have turned the flap the other way to be photographed to show the iron arm that sits within the fire to allow the flap to be opened to release smoke. The iron has been blacked and polished to give an attractive finish. The insert is designed to fit into the wall cavity and can be finished with a fire surround. The fire is in good reclaimed condition with only slight signs of age and wear. The top of the fire has a large casting mark. The back of the fire has surface rust. Some very small patches of surface rust can be seen to the grill and front and there are some light scratches and marks. The fire has a very beautiful design and would add a great deal of period charm to a home.
PLEASE NOTE: The fire is VERY HEAVY and is collection ONLY. Please ensure you have a suitable vehicle for collection and the fire will need 2-3 people to carry it safely.
