very handsome and elegant, Neo Georgian, cast iron fire insert dating to the Victorian period. The fire insert is paired with a very ornate fire guard, fire stool and 18" clay fire back. The fire insert is of a very pretty and unusual design, imitating Georgian style, with curved fire cheeks that are surrounded by a delicate repeated boarded that features flowers and ribbons. The insert has a plain top and the fire is designed to fit with the outer edge of the curve flush to the wall. The crossbar has beautiful scrolling wave designs. The small fire guard is a particular feature, with decorative borders and finials that act as handles. The fire insert has the name of its design, "The Georgian", and a registered design number on the back that is faded and difficult to read. The insert is in very good condition but does have some small signs of wear and use, as expected of antique items. There are some marks and scratches to the front of the fire and fire guard. The back of the fire, stool and guard have surface rust and there is some slight tarnish to the stool and top of the fire guard. There are some very slight areas of separation where the top of the curved cheeks and the insert top meet. The listing price is for the insert, stool, guard and clay back but if the back and stool are not required the price of the fire insert and guard alone would be £380. Please let us know before purchase if you would prefer this option. The fire is a stunning Neo Georgian item and is perfect for adding period charm to a home.
