Dimensions:
An attractive, large, reclaimed reproduction cast iron fire insert. The fire opening has a deep arched shape which is finely decorated with repeating borders in Victorian style. The smoke flap has a pretty leaf design. The fire has curved front bars and a decorative ash pan cover. The fire brick appears to be untouched and therefore the fire may have been used for decoration only. The iron has been blacked and polished to give an attractive finish. The fire has the makers name, AGNEWS, and the model number VA.1 stamped on the back. The insert is designed to fit into the wall cavity and can be finished with a fire surround. The fire is in good, useable, reclaimed condition with some light signs of use. There is some surface rust to the back as expected. There are some casting marks, pitting and small scratches. The fire is of a good size for a living or dining room and has a design that would suit both period or modern properties. An attractive piece that would add great character to a home.
