A petite, reclaimed, Victorian cast iron fire insert. The insert has a nice design, in the traditional Victorian style, with an arched fire opening surrounded by decorative rope borders. The fire has its original curved front bars and top plate with a humorous face in relief with tongue sticking out. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The insert is of a petite size, ideal for a bedroom, and could be paired with a fire surround. The fire insert is in good reclaimed condition with some small signs of age and wear. The front of the insert has some small scratches and marks. There are some casting marks and a small knock on the inner right hand side of the fire opening. One of the front bars has a crack and the concrete fire back has cracks but it is stable. There is surface rust to the back of the fire, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a lovely period appearance and would be a fantastic item for adding character to a fireplace.
