A very pretty, reclaimed, reproduction cast iron tiled fire insert. The insert is a vintage reproduction of an Edwardian design and is approximately 40 years old. The fire insert is very ornate with a decorative border with scrolling leaves and there are scrolls on either side of the fire opening. The insert has a lovely smoke hood with a pretty motif. The sides of the fire have been fitted with flower tiles that are possibly original Edwardian. There are four large square tiles and two thinner tiles on each side of the fire opening. The fire insert has shaped front bars, a grill and smoke flap. The front of the fire has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire insert is in good reclaimed condition with some slight signs of age and wear. There are some casting marks, pitting and scratches to the front face. The sides of the fire opening have some signs of wear and use and some chips and marks. The tiles are in good condition but have some small knocks and chips to the edges and some scratches and marks to the design. The back of the fire insert has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire insert has a great traditional look, ideal for a period home, and can be paired with a fire surround. The fire insert has great character and would be a lovely feature for a home.
