A reclaimed Art Nouveau cast iron fire insert. The insert has a pretty design with scrolling vines on the elegantly shaped smoke hood. The insert has front bars with ball finials and a small grate for burning. The fire insert is of a narrow size, ideal for decorative purposes in a bedroom or for a smaller reception room. The iron has been blacked and polished. The back of the fire insert has a registered design number that is quite hard to read but it appears to be RD492832, dating the insert to 1906. The fire insert is in reclaimed condition with some signs of age and some damage. The concrete fire back has deep cracks and knocks but is stable within the fire. There is some visible raised surface rust patches under the black finish. The smoke hood underside has a break that can be seen only from the back of the fire or if looking underneath it. There are some small knocks and marks. The back has surface rust as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a nice design that would suit many interiors and would be a lovely period item for adding character to a fireplace.
