A very elegant and petite, reclaimed, tiled cast iron fire insert dating to C.1900. The cast iron insert has a very nice appearance with an ornate smoke hood with an Adam style design with urns and leaves, typical of the era. There is a decorative repeating border around the fire insert and it has retained its original front bars. On either side of the fire opening there are antique tiles, possibly the fires original tiles, with a pretty flower and leaf design in brown and cream. The fire insert is of a nice size, ideal for a bedroom or smaller sitting room. The fire insert is in solid condition with some signs of age and some damage, as expected of reclaimed antiques. The iron has some knocks and casting marks. The top flap has had a loop added to keep it in place. The fire has some bulges and breaks to the side cheeks. We can add plates to the back of the fire where there is damage, for an extra charge, please contact us for details. The concrete fire back has some small knocks and chips. The tiles have no breaks but there are some small scratches and marks to the design. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire insert is a beautiful reclaimed item and a great example of late Victorian design. The fire insert would be a fantastic feature for a fireplace.
