Code: FI0110
Dimensions:
A pretty, reclaimed, cast iron bedroom fire insert, likely to date to the late Georgian or early Victorian period. The fire insert has an elegant period design with a decorative arched opening with rope borders, one with leaf detailing. The fire insert has curved front bars with finials and a decorative section on the bottom bar with acanthus leaves. The top plate is present and has simple detailing. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The bedroom insert is in good antique condition with some signs of its considerable age, as expected. The iron has some casting marks and pitting. The fire brick has some cracks and knocks but is stable. The back of the insert has some damage to the iron support legs under the fire brick where there is a hole but the back is solid and stable (see last picture). The back of the insert has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. You could pair the fire insert with a wooden fire surround if you wish and the insert has a very nice period look, ideal for adding character to a fireplace.
