A handsome, original antique, oak fire surround dating to C.1925. The fire surround has a classic design with carved detailing on the legs, a thin moulded edge above the legs and a rectangular panel in the centre of the cross bar. The oak has a fantastic colour with a waxed or stained finish which highlights the attractive wood grain. The fire surround is of a substantial size and would be suited to a living or dining room and can be paired with a cast iron fire insert. The fire surround is in good condition with some signs of age and wear, as excepted of reclaimed antique items. The surround has some marks and small chips. There is a dark stain on the top of the mantel and some darker marks at the feet. The right hand side of the cross bar has a split but this does not affect the structural integrity of the fire. The outer sides of the feet have some slight damage and knocks where the fire has been removed from its original position. The fire surround is designed to sit flush against the wall. Currently there are metal pegs for fitting in to the wall and a thin ledge at the back of the mantel. We can remove the pegs and ledge for you if required, please contact us if you would like this service. The back of the legs also have wooden fixing pegs. The fire has a design that would complement both modern and period properties and is a fantastic piece for finishing a fire place.
