A very pretty, petite, Edwardian cast iron bedroom fire surround / fire front with an attractive oak mantel. The centre of the fire has a beautiful design with ribbons, swags and flowers. The fire has a particularly attractive canopy smoke hood with a motif. The iron has been blacked and polished giving a lovely finish. The fire has a registered design number on the back, RD519937, dating the fire to 1900-1910. The original damaged mantel has been replaced with a beautiful waxed rustic oak mantel. The fire surround is designed to be paired with a small fire basket and sits around the fire opening or can be used for decorative purposes in a bedroom. The oak mantel has an attractive grain and is a solid and quality piece of timber. The pairing of cast iron with oak gives the fire a unique and interesting look that would fit with period, country or rustic properties. The fire is in very good condition but has some slight signs of use, as expected of reclaimed antiques. There are some slight scratches and small casting marks and holes. The oak mantel has some surface cracks, darker areas and a wood knot hole on the front edge. One fixing lug is missing, we could add a more modern version for an extra charge if required. Please contact us for details. The fire surround is a beautiful item that would add great character to a home and paired with a small fire basket would complete a hearth.
