A very large, elegant, cast iron fire surround likely to date to the late Victorian period. The fire has a classic design with plain border detailing around the fire opening and an attractive curved crossbar under the large mantel. The four fixing lugs are present at the top and base of the legs. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour. The surround is of a perfect size for a living or dining room and can be paired with a fire basket or wood burner. The fire is in very good condition but is antique and therefore has some slight signs of use and wear. The fire has some casting marks and pitting. There are some small knocks, especially to the mantel. Some small marks and scratches can be seen. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire surround is a large and imposing item with a classical design that would suit both period and modern properties. A superb surround that would be a lovely feature within a home.
