Code: FS0105
Dimensions:
An elegant cast iron fire surround likely to date to the late Victorian period. The fire has a classic design with plain border detailing around the fire opening that stands out from the main body of the fire. There is an attractive curved crossbar under the large mantel. On either side there is a fixing lug under the mantel for attaching the surround to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour. The surround is of a perfect size for a living or dining room and can be paired with a fire basket or wood burner. The fire is in very good condition but is antique and therefore has some slight signs of use and wear. The fire has some casting marks and pitting, especially to the mantel edge. There are some small knocks and scratches. There is a fine surface crack or casting mark on the mantel but it is solid. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire surround has a classical design that would suit both period and modern properties and is a superb item that would be a lovely feature within a home.
