A very pretty Edwardian painted pine fire surround. The fire has an ornate design with moulded detailing around the mantel edge and scalloped edge decoration below this. The fire surround has a central shelf and decorative corbels on either side. The fire opening is surrounded by decorative mouldings. The pine has been painted white but the paint does have some chips, stains and knocks and purchaser will need to strip and repaint the surround to suit. The fire is perfect for surrounding a cast iron fire insert. The fire surround is a reclaimed antique and therefore has some signs of wear and use, as expected. The paint has some chipping, stains and knocks and the surround will need stripping and refinishing. There is some slight damage to the back of the fire around the fixing holes. There are some knocks and chips, especially to the surround edges and mantel. The feet have some surface splits. There are some small areas of damage to the side edges and at the back of the mantel. The surround is well made and has an elegant appearance, perfect for finishing a fireplace.
