A large reclaimed Edwardian cast iron fire surround. The fire has a simple and classic design with particularly fine mouldings around the fire opening. The centre of the crossbar has a decorative scrolled edge raised panel. The fire has been blacked and polished and has very fine finish. The surround is of a perfect size for a living or dining room and can be paired with a wood burner or be used for decorative purposes. The fire is a reclaimed antique and has some wear and repaired damage. The back has surface rust as expected. Some small scratches and marks can be seen. The feet were broken and have been repaired to a high standard using hardwood, metal plates and metal screws, please see pictures for details. Due to the hardwood inserts, the surround is suited for decorative use only or for use with a wood burner. We suggest grip filling around the feet to fix to the wall and for some protection against heat if used with a wood burner. Please contact us for advice if planning on using the surround with a wood burner. The fire surround has a beautiful classic style that would be suited to both period and modern properties and is a great item for adding character and charm to a home.
