A very decorative, reclaimed, Aesthetic movement antique cast iron fire surround. The fire, that dates to C.1915, has a beautiful design with Chinoiserie wheels and scrolling detailing along the crossbar. The legs have acanthus leaves and scrolls. The mantel has a decorative border around its edge. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a fine finish. The fire is well made and in good, solid condition, with some slight signs of wear due to age. The mantel edges have some slight knocks and roughness from casting and there are some casting marks to the top of the mantel. There is a small indentation at the base of one leg. The middle fixing hole on the mantel is missing a screw but it is stable. The back of the fire has surface rust as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a very elegant period look and is perfect for pairing with a fire basket. The surround is a very desirable item that illustrates the best of period design.
