A fantastic, reclaimed, antique Edwardian cast iron fire surround that is of an ideal size for a living or dining room. The fire has a very elegant design with scrolling acanthus leaves on either side of the crossbar and a pretty flower design that runs along it. The fire opening is surrounded by a traditional border. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a fine finish. There is a lug for fixing screws on each side of the crossbar. The fire has been repaired after sustaining some damage to its left hand side, but it is solid and useable. The fire has a very solid brace attached to the back to secure the crack that can be seen on the top left hand side. The fire has some slight knocks and pitting to the mantel edges and there are some small casting marks. One of the mantel fixing screws is not sitting quite flush. There is a small indentation to a corner of the crossbar design from casting. The back of the fire has surface rust as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a very beautiful period look and is perfect for pairing with a fire basket. The elegant appearance of the surround is ideal for complementing both period and modern properties and is a lovely example of Edwardian design.
