Code: FS0149
Dimensions:
An elegant, reclaimed, Edwardian cast iron fire surround dating to C.1900. The surround has a very attractive Neo-Georgian appearance in the Adam style, with a large design on the cross bar featuring an urn, flames, swags and bows. There is a decorative repeating border under the mantel and flower motifs in each top corner. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire has fixing lugs on each side under the mantel and on the feet but the top left lug has been broken. The fire surround is in very good condition with some slight signs of use and wear, as expected of reclaimed antiques. The fire has some small knocks, pitting and marks and some slightly uneven edges to the front of the mantel and inner edges of the fire opening. The crossbar has some casting marks and knocks. There is some surface rust to the back. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of a very good size and is ideal for pairing with a fire basket or for surrounding a wood burner. The surround has a fantastic period look, typical of the Edwardian era, and is ideal for adding character to a hearth.
