Code: FS0151
Dimensions:
A handsome, reclaimed, Edwardian cast iron fire surround. The surround is ideal for pairing with a wood burner or fire basket and is suited to a living or dining room. The fire surround has an Adam style appearance with an urn and swag design along the cross bar. The legs have bluebells or similar flowers and there are reeded details on each side under the mantel. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a good colour and finish. The surround has two fixing lugs, one on each side, under the mantel but please note both are replacements. The surround is in good, useable, condition with some signs of age and some slight damage. The fire surround has some small casting marks, scratches and pitting. There are some knocks and chips to the edges. The fixing lugs have been broken and they have been replaced with modern metal lugs that have been made for the surround. The back edges where the lugs broke away from the fire are slightly uneven. The back has surface rust as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a classic and elegant appearance that would suit both modern and period properties and would finish a fireplace and add period character and charm.
