Dimensions:
A handsome, original antique, pine and gesso fire surround dating to C.1900. The white fire surround has a lovely period design in the Adam style, typical of the era. The crossbar is very ornate and has a large applied urn in the centre and scrolling acanthus leaves across each side. There is a large flower on each side of the crossbar and egg and dart detailing under the mantel. The legs have a bow design with falling flowers and there is a highly decorative border around the fire opening. The fire surround is of a substantial size and would be suited to a living or dining room and can be paired with a cast iron fire insert. The fire surround is in good condition with some signs of age and wear, as excepted of reclaimed antique items. The surround has some marks and chips. There are some cracks and damage to the gesso, including a large crack on the central urn and some stains and chips. There is a knock to the right hand corner of the mantel edge. There are some knocks to the feet. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is perfect for a period property and is a fantastic statement piece for finishing a fire place.
