A very handsome and imposing, reclaimed, oak fire surround. The very large surround is of a good quality and has a traditional style with a large panel in the centre of the cross bar, surrounded by bolection moulding. The large mantel has stepped detailing. The oak is stripped and has had a wax finish applied. The oak has a rich colour that highlights the attractive wood grain. The fire surround has had a rebate added so purchaser could pair it with a large cast iron fire insert, if desired. The surround is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use and wear, as expected. The surround has some marks, small holes, scratches and some surface splits but the fire surround is stable. There is a knock to the edge of the mantel and some of the joints have opened very slightly. The fire surround has had a rebate added and a join can be seen on the sides of the legs. The rebate has a slightly different colour and grain. Please see pictures for condition details. The surround has a great traditional appearance, perfect for both period and modern properties and its size makes it an unusual and desireable item.
