A reclaimed, decorative, hand carved pine fire surround. The surround is likely to be Mid-Century and is a vintage reproduction of traditional designs of the late Victorian period. The fire surround has a very attractive appearance, with large Adam style flower swags and bows that were popular in the Victorian era. There is a thick border, in relief, that runs along the crossbar and down the legs with flower and leaf detailing. There are carved borders under the mantel. The pine has had a shellac or varnished finish but it could easily be stripped by purchaser and a wax finish applied. The feet have cut outs to fit a hearth but we can cut the base of the feet to level them, free of charge, if required. Please let us know at time of purchase if you would like the feet levelled. The fire surround could be paired with a cast iron insert or fire basket or used for decorative purposes. The surround is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use, as expected. There are some small knocks and chips to the pine and there is a wood knot or some slight damage to the plain border under the mantel. The pine has some scratches and marks. One foot has some deep knocks. The back edge of one leg has a thin crack and there is some residue paint to the back of the legs. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a very ornate look and is ideal for a period home, making a fantastic addition to a fireplace.
