A very elegant, reclaimed, Victorian hand carved pine fire surround. The surround has a beautiful appearance with ornate carved acanthus leaves and flowers in relief, with a textured background, and bolection moulding around the outer edges. The feet are simply carved with small notches where the surround was fitted into a hearth. We cut cut away the notches and level the feet, free of charge. Please let us know at time of purchase if you would like the feet levelled. The pine has had a shellac finish but we have wire brushed the surround to clean it slightly. The surround could be further stripped and waxed by purchaser if desired. The fire surround is ideal for pairing with a large cast iron insert or fire basket. The surround is a reclaimed antique and therefore has some signs of use and wear. The left hand corner join has some slight separation but the fire surround is stable. There are some marks, chips and some discolouration to the pine. The base of the feet have some discolouration and one foot has a thin surface split. There are some thin surface cracks that do not affect the structural integrity of the surround. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a fantastic period design and would be a wonderful addition to a fireplace.
