A pretty, reclaimed, Victorian cast iron fire surround. The surround has an ornate design with delicate patterns along the cross bar and acorns set into rectangular panels. The top of the legs have very fine flowers and leaves and there is fluting and pretty detailing at their base. The mantel has rounded front edges. The surround has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The fire surround has a model number and RD dating number and although the last number is difficult to read the first 5 numbers are 10522 showing us the fire dates to 1888. The surround is ideal for pairing with a fire basket or wood burner. The fire surround is in solid condition with some signs of age and some repaired damage as expected of reclaimed antiques. The mantel has sustained some damage and has some repaired cracks, to the left hand side and some to the front. There are some casting marks, knocks and chips to the iron, especially to the mantel edge. The mantel is slightly uneven with a slight bow from repair. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a lovely appearance that would suit both period and modern properties and would add great character to a fire place.
