FS0205 RECLAIMED MID CENTURY DECORATIVE CARVED PINE FIRE SURROUND

A pretty, reclaimed, carved pine fire surround. The surround is likely to be Mid-Century and is a vintage reproduction of traditional designs of the late Victorian period. The fire surround has a very attractive appearance, with carved roses and swags in the centre of the crossbar and acanthus leaves on each side, in relief. There is an egg and dart border under the mantel, a flower or leaf border around the fire opening and a small delicate border around the mantel edges. The pine has been sanded to bare wood and is ready for purchaser to add a finish to suit, such as a wax. The fire surround could be paired with a cast iron insert or fire basket or used for decorative purposes. The surround has a rebate behind the fire opening edges for accommodating slate slips. We can supply slate slips for the surround for an extra £195. The surround is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use, as expected. There are some small knocks and chips to the pine, including the mantel edges and to the decorative carved pieces. The pine has some scratches and marks. The feet have some surface splits and there is some light staining. The sides of the legs have some marks left from where it was previously fitted. There is some colour variation to the pine. The back of the mantel has some splintering. There is a line or break in the centre of the small border around the mantel.
