An original, reclaimed, Art Deco cast iron fire surround dating to C.1930s. The fire surround is a very stylish period item with an appealing design featuring bolection mouldings. The rare and attractive surround has a good compact size, making it relatively easy to move and its size and classic design would not overpower a room and would therefore compliment a period or more modern interior. The fire surround could be used with a fire basket or wood burner. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and it has a good finish. The surround does not currently have any fixing lugs but we could add a metal fixing lug to each side of the fire, included in the price. Please let us know if you would like fixing lugs upon purchase. The inner edges of the fire surround have a large rebate of approx 4.5cm - 5cm. The rebate will need to be filled using stone fire slips or similar. Please contact us if you need advice about the rebate. The surround is in good useable condition with some signs of age, as expected of reclaimed antiques. The top of the fire surround has had some filler applied to repair some light damage. There are some small knocks, marks, pitting and there is a casting crease on one leg. The back of the surround has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of a rare size and design and is a fantastic reclaimed item from the Art Deco period that would finish a fire place very nicely.
