FS0217 RECLAIMED VICTORIAN CAST IRON FIRE TRIM & PINE SURROUND

FS0217 RECLAIMED VICTORIAN CAST IRON FIRE TRIM & PINE SURROUND

Code: FS0217

SOLD

A decorative, original, reclaimed Victorian cast iron fire trim that has been paired with a painted pine fire surround. The fire trim has a nice design with flowers within a decorative border. The pine surround has a simple and traditional design with corbels under the mantel. The surround and trim are designed to fit around a fireplace opening and can be paired with a fire basket or used for decorative purposes. The back of the fire trim has an RD dating number that we believe to be RD231421, dating the fire trim to 1894. The fire surround is likely to date to the early 20th Century. The fire trim and surround are in antique condition with some signs of age and some light damage. The fire trim has some damage to the left hand leg, at the base, when looking at the fire. The leg has sustained a break but it is not particularly noticeable when it is paired with the surround. The trim has some surface rust around the outer edges and on the back, as expected. The surround has some chipping, flaking and concrete residue on the paint and it will need sanding and re-painting to suit. The surround has some slight separation to the joints at the feet and there are some knocks and chips to the wood, especially the mantel edges. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire trim and surround have a nice period design, adding charm and character to a hearth.
