Code: FS0232
Dimensions:
An elegant reclaimed cast iron fire surround, likely to date to C.1900. The surround is of a very large size and has a classic, plain design with a border around the fire opening and shaped sides to the crossbar. The iron has been blacked and polished and is finished nicely. The fire surround is of the ideal size for a living or dining room and it could be used to surround a wood burner or fire basket or used for decorative purposes. The surround is in good solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected of antique items. The fire surround has some knocks and scratches. There are some casting marks and some pitting, especially to the fire edges and the left hand edge of the mantel. The right hand mantel edge has some slight flaking to the iron, perhaps left from casting. The back of the surround has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The surrounds classic and simple design gives it an elegant appearance, making it ideal for both period and modern properties. The fire surround will be a lovely addition to a fireplace.
