An elegant, reclaimed, Art Nouveau mahogany fire surround, C1910. The surround is heavy, well made and has a lovely design, typical of the Art Nouveau era. The crossbar has a flower and leaves carved into a panel in the centre and there are tulips carved on either side at the top of the legs. There is a shelf along the base of the crossbar and decorative corbels below this. The legs have carved column style reeding. The mahogany has a lovely colour that accentuates the fire's design.
The fire surround is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The surround has some knocks and chips, especially to the front edge of the mantel. The left hand side of the mantel has sustained a knock and has some damage. There are some small splinters, mainly to the back of the legs, and some indentations and paint residue to the sides of the legs left from where it was previously fitted. The mantel has some cracks but it is stable. There are some scuffs and marks to the feet and some thin nails. There are some small holes and marks in the mahogany. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of a good size for a living or dining room and will make a lovely feature for a fireplace.
