A simple, petite, reclaimed pine fire surround, likely to date to the late Victorian period. The surround has a classic design with plain mantel with beading below it and beading above the fire opening. The pine has been stripped to bare wood. The surround is ideal for framing a small cast iron insert and is of a good size for a bedroom. The surround is in reclaimed antique condition with some signs of age and some damage. There is a large crack along the crossbar and although the surround is stable, the crack is visible and some light can be seen through it. The feet have uneven edges, indentations in the wood and some evidence of woodworm which should now be dead. The beading has some separation to the joins. One section of beading is missing on the left hand side. The pine has some scratches, marks and stains and you may wish to re-sand and finish the surround to suit. Please see pictures for condition details. The classic and simple design of the fire surround makes it ideal for a period or modern property and would fit nicely with many insert designs.
