A simple and pretty, reclaimed, antique pine fire surround. The surround has a classic design with mouldings. The cross bar did have gesso detailing but the gesso has crumbled and it has been removed. There is a shadow where the gesso has been removed which is quite pretty and you could leave this as a decorative detail. The surround appears to have been varnished so you could sand and paint the pine, if you prefer. Please note, the legs of the surround are not solid and have a large rebate on the inside (please see picture 8 for details).The surround is ideal for framing a cast iron insert and is of a good size for a reception room. The fire surround is in reclaimed antique condition with some signs of age as expected. The pine has some small knocks and chips. There are some slight gaps to joins, especially under the mantel and along the crossbar. The pine has some surface cracks and splits but it is stable. There are some scuffs and scratches and the back edge of the feet have some wood cut away to allow it to sit next to skirting board. Please see pictures for condition details. The classic and simple design of the fire surround makes it ideal for a period or modern property and would make a nice addition to a hearth.
