LISTING PRICE OF £1950 IS FOR 1 FIRE SURROUND.
Two large, elegant, matching reclaimed cast iron fire surrounds dating to the Victorian period SOLD SEPERATELY AND PRICED AT £1950 PER FIRE SURROUND. A quantity can be selected should you wish to by both, on a first come first served basis.
The surrounds have an ornate appearance, typical of the period, the crossbars having a central panel with a medallion, leaves and pomegranates. There is fluting on either side of the decorative panels. The legs have a column style design with fluting and circular roundels. There is a decorative egg and dart border and fluted border with rosettes in the corners, around the fire opening. Each fire surround has two fixing lugs, one on either side under the mantel, for attaching the fires to the wall. The fire surrounds have matching registered design numbers, RD142177, dating them to 1890. Each fire has been blacked and polished and they have a nice finish.
The surrounds are in good reclaimed antique condition with some signs of use and age, as expected. The iron has some casting marks and pitting and some small knocks. Picture 8 shows a larger casting mark to one leg. The back of each fire surround has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surrounds are of a very good size and would make truly fantastic statement pieces for a home.
