Code: FS0368
Dimensions:
A handsome, reclaimed, Arts and Crafts cast iron fire surround, likely to date to 1900-1910. The surround appears to have been converted from a combination fire to a surround at some point and has a simple and stylish appearance with a Voysey style design with two upside down hearts in a panel under the mantel. The surround has simple mouldings around the fire opening and along the mantel edges. The surround has a domed smoke hood. There is a fixing lug on either side, under the mantel, for adding fixings to attach the surround to the wall. The fire surround had front bars but these are now missing and the holes have been filled. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The surround has some casting marks and pitting and there are some dents in the mantel. The holes where the front bars sat have been filled but the filled areas are slightly raised. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is a handsome and well made item and it will make a very nice feature for a fireplace.
