A reclaimed, decorative, elegant carved pine fire surround. The surround is a vintage reproduction of traditional designs of the late Victorian period and has a very attractive appearance with applied fruit, flowers and swag mouldings along the crossbar. The surround has a carved egg and dart border under the mantel and a leaf border along the mantels front and side edges. The surround has a decorative carved leaf border around the fire opening and has slate slips that sit within the fire opening, complimenting the pine. The slips are currently held in with wooden toggles but the slate will need to be removed for transportation and will need to be fixed properly before fitting the surround. The pine has been stripped to bare wood. There are tabs for fixings, to attach the fire surround to the wall, one on either side under the mantel and one on each leg.
The surround is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of use and wear, as expected of reclaimed items. There are some knocks and chips to the pine. There is some slight colour variation, fading around the carved mouldings and some slight remaining varnish or wax. The side of the legs have some paint or plaster residue. The mantel front edge has had some patch repairs and one corner has some knocks. The slate has some small scratches and marks. The fixing tabs have some tarnish. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a lovely ornate appearance and it would make a very nice feature for a fireplace.
