Dimensions:
A petite, elegant, reclaimed Victorian painted cast iron fire surround / wood burner surround. The surround has a very nice appearance, typical of the era, with a raised panel with decorative mouldings in the centre of the cross bar. Each end of the cross bar has decorative scrolling detail. The legs have raised panels and the top of the legs have a pretty design. The back of the fire surround has a registered design number, RD 212576, dating it to 1893. The fire surround is in solid condition with some signs of age and is in need of some refurbishment. The paint has chips, losses and some surface rust showing through and you will need to have the surround stripped and re-finished to suit. The outside edges of the legs have missing paint. The back edge of the mantel has a small chip out of it. The iron has some small knocks. The inner edges of the legs have been evened up slightly and therefore the iron is showing. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The surround has a nice period design and is of a good size for a bedroom. The surround, once refurbished, will make a very nice feature for a fireplace.
