Code: FS0483
Dimensions:
A large, ornate, reclaimed hand carved fire surround dating to C.1920. The fire surround has a handsome period appearance with ionic style columns on each side, in relief, with carved detailing. The crossbar has carved panels with pretty swags and bows and there are two carved corbels under the mantel. The side and front edges of the mantel have mouldings and dentil moulding. The pine has been varnished.
The surround is in good solid condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The surround has some knocks and chips and there is some slight damage to the front of the mantel, where it has been knocked. There are some marks and scratches and the mantel top has some slight discolouration. The back edge of the mantel has some white residue from where it was fitted to a wall previously. The joints where the crossbar and legs meet have some losses to filler. The fixing lugs have some tarnish. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of a good size and has a fine period appearance and it would make a fantastic feature for a fireplace.
