A very pretty, decorative, small Georgian cast iron hobgrate fire.
The hobgrate has fantastic castings, with fine scrolling detail and a decorative top piece. It also has traditional flat plates on either side of the fire that were originally used for warming pots.
The hobgrate has a burnished finish, giving a slightly silvery appearance. The fire is suitable for decorative purposes only as it is missing a grill and has areas of damage. There are some damage to the cast iron back and there is a break to the decorative top piece. There are some slight patches of surface rust to the front face and the back has surface rust. Please see pictures for further information. The hobgrate has fantastic character and it is rare to find such a pretty item with most of its original features. The fire's petite size makes it perfect for a kitchen or bedroom and would make a beautiful decorative item for a period home.
