This listing is for one oak board, width 23cm, length 3 metres, thickness 2.2cm. The board is equal to 0.69 square metre. We have more boards available, 80 at time of writing (see picture 15). Please contact us for current stock.
Top quality timber. Lovely character timber with some knots, medullary rays, some pippy oak as well.
The board can be used on either face, with the front face planed and the back face slightly rougher with some blade marks and a more rustic texture, ideal for a more rustic looking floor. The board is ideal for flooring / shelves / a table top / work surface / cladding / panelling / plank doors / cabinet doors.
The board is sustainably sourced in France, from Normandy, from managed forests.
Trees are cut at 120 years old. The trunks are then planked and left to air dry and season for three years and is then kiln dried and machined.
The long edges have a tongue and groove but not the ends. We have listings for other sizes,
18cm face width (See Ref M2328) and 28cm face width (see Ref M2330).
The boards could be used together as mixed width flooring, which is very popular with our clients looking for cottage and traditional style. See pictures 16 and 17 for all 3 sizes together.
The board is supplied bare and unfinished. The oak is character grade with some knots, small cracks, burrs and medullary rays. The ends often have marks from the planer and the board will require a light sanding before finishing. We ask for the longest boards possible rather than having shorter perfect boards which suits clients wanting a heritage product rather than a shorter mass produced oak. The board has a micro bevel down the long edges (not ends).
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the board being unfinished its moisture content can change. As moisture levels change it can warp. To stop the oak warping please store in dry conditions, flat and dry, preferably with weight on it.
It is best to allow any oak to acclimatise on site so that it has the same moisture content as the area around it. On the widest board in the winter we recommend up to 3 weeks acclimatisation.
The cost per square metre pro rata is £133. We can offer a service to turn the board into square edge and remove the T & G but please note you would loose 1cm off the width and the board would then be 22cm, please contact us for details and a quote. Boards do have some blade marks to the edges that will need to be sanded. We can lightly sand the boards for £5 per board, although please allow a few extra days before the oak is available if this service is required. Please talk to us for further information.
