Reclaimed brass bifold fireplace glass doors. The doors have a very nice traditional appearance with brass fretwork above the bifold glass doors. The doors are designed to be used with masonry fires, not prefabricated fireplaces or metal fireboxes and are made with steel and brass. The fireplace doors have tempered glass and have a bifold design, easily opened with the wooden handle on each bifold door. The doors are to be opened, with the mesh screens closed for when the fireplace is in use, with the mesh catching embers and sparks. When not in use, the doors can be closed to minimise heat loss through the chimney.
The screen is in solid condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The brass has some scratches, marks, small dents and there is a larger patch of oxidisation at the top. There are some patches of surface rust to the mesh and to the non brass pieces. The mesh has some discolouration from smoke. Please see pictures for condition details. The brass fireplace doors have a nice traditional period look and are ideal for adding character to a fireplace and to offer additional safety when using the fireplace.
