A characterful reclaimed Victorian wooden writing slope. The writing slope has a very nice appearance and has been made using an attractive wood and the box has brass fittings. Opening the box reveals a storage area and the slop can then be lowered down for use. The writing slope has been fitted with baize which could be original to the box or certainly a very old addition. When open, one side has a small brass peg that can be taken out and a secret compartment opened with two small drawers. There are two ink bottles, one with a lid, a nib and a compartment for storage of nibs ect. The box retains its key and the lock is in working order. The writing slope is in solid antique condition with some signs of age and use, as expected. The top of the box has a split in the wood but it is stable. The wood has some small chips and scratches throughout. The baize has some wear, small tears, discolouration and stains. The brass fittings have some slight tarnish. Please see pictures for condition details. The writing slope is a lovely Victorian piece and it will make a nice period addition to a desk.
