A beautiful, handmade, one off oak and metal 8 seater dining table. The table has been finely made using reclaimed rustic old oak that sits on a reclaimed metal base that has an interesting industrial look, complimenting the rustic oak top nicely. The table top has been made using several oak planks that have an abundance of character. The oak is approximately 200 years old and the planks were cut from rustic beams. The oak has been pit sawn and the interesting cut marks can be seen. The oak has wood knots and interesting rustic characteristics. The metal base has been well engineered and the tapered legs are removeable for easier transportation. The table top edges have been finished with steel edge trims and the oak sits flush with it on the top side.
The oak top has been varnished with 3 coats of heavy duty satin varnish. The professional finish looks fantastic, highlighting the beautiful grain of the oak, and also offers protection. The varnish can take some spillages and traffic and therefore makes it practical for daily life. The varnish is easily available should any maintenance be required.
The oak is reclaimed and has great character. There are wood knots, saw marks, and natural marks expected of reclaimed wood. One wood knot has been glued. The oak has some thin surface splits but the wood is solid. The industrial metal base has some scratches, slight tarnish, pitting and wear that add to its fantastic industrial character. The oak has some small holes and colour variation and there is a darker patch surrounding a hole. Please see pictures for details.
The table is a beautifully made item with an exclusive design and would be a truly fantastic show piece for the home, offering both great style and practicality.
