A very handsome and large Arts and Crafts movement oak front door. The door is solid and well made with mortise and tenon joints. The door features 3 vertical recessed panels at the base of the door and a large panel above, ready for glazing. We can glaze the door for an extra charge, please contact us to discuss your requirements and for a quote. The door has a "shelf" detail below the glazing panel and it has two attractive iron straps in the centre of the door and a metal letter box plate at the base. The oak has a light varnish or wax finish that highlights the lovely grain of the wood. The door is in good reclaimed condition but has some small repairs and signs of use, as expected of antique items. The door has a bow on the straight edge. A 3rd hinge could be used if hanging the door on the opposite side to what it is currently set up for or we could make a frame to accommodate the bow. Please contact us to discuss this and for advice. The door has some small marks and knocks, especially to the edges and corners. There are some small surface cracks that do not affect the strength of the door. The door has had some patch repairs. There are some holes and marks left from hardware removal. We can patch repair holes for an extra charge, please contact us for details. There is no key for the lock and it will need to be changed. The height may need slight levelling. The door is a lovely example of Arts and Crafts design and is very well made, making it perfect for adding character to a home.
