A reclaimed, rustic, oak door and frame that is now suited for use as a garden gate. The door is old and has a rustic appearance. The door comprises of oak planks with a ledge and brace construction on the back face. The door has two large, Gothic style, iron strap hinges, a letter plate and a door knocker that add interest and character. The oak has been varnished or stained at some point but it has now worn and purchaser will need to sand and treat the door with a product suitable for exterior use.
The door is antique and has signs of wear, damage and age, as expected. The door has twisted and warped over time and therefore it is now suitable for use as a garden gate and not a front door. The door will need some shaving to fit properly in the frame, please contact us if you require further information and advice about this. There are splits and cracks in the oak, especially to the top left corner of the door. The door has some holes where wood knots have fallen out. The base of the door is uneven and has notches and gouges. The base of the door, on the back face, has some damage, (picture 11). The oak has colour variation and some staining and weathering. The back face has some dark stains, perhaps residue paint. The oak has knocks, chips and splinters, mainly to the edges of the frame and door edges and corners. The door hardware has some surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The door has great character and rustic charm and is ideal for making an interesting garden gate.
