A very handsome reclaimed, Gothic style, late Arts and Crafts oak external door and frame, dating to the early part of the 20th Century. The door is heavy and well made with 3 vertical recessed panels with the tops forming a Gothic style arch. The base of the door has a drip bar. The door is set into a thick oak frame with sill. The external face of the door has been sanded and a stain applied and the internal face of the door still has a varnished finish. There is a patch sanded into the internal face of the door which has some shallow scratches and gouges. The sanded patch shows the colour of the oak once the varnish is removed. We can sand the internal face of the door for an EXTRA CHARGE. Please contact us for a quote. The sill has been sanded to bare wood. The door has a space for a letter plate. There is one lock with a key but you will need to supply and add the rest of the door furniture to suit.
The door is in solid condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected of reclaimed items. The frame has some notches, gouges and holes. The oak has some slight stains and marks and the sill of the frame and the drip bar have some darker staining. The sill has some thin surface splits. There are holes and marks left from hardware removal. The internal face of the door has some gouges and scratches. There are some small gaps where the mouldings join at the arched point of the door. The outside edges of the frame have some filler and paint residue. Please see pictures for condition details. The door is of a good quality and has a very handsome appearance, perfect for adding Gothic character to a home.
