A pair of very elegant, reclaimed, Victorian painted pine Cardiff doors for internal use. The doors are well made and have gunstock styles. The inner edges of the doors have a rebated edge so they sit nicely together. The doors each have a solid recessed panel at the base with decorative moulding and above this are 8 glazed panels in the traditional Cardiff door style. Each door has two large glazed panels, two corner panels with green embossed glass and four rectangular panels. The rectangular panels have pretty etched flower detail and the green corner glass has embossed flowers and leaves. Please note: the larger panels and some of the rectangular panels will NOT MEET CURRENT SAFETY STANDARDS. The glass that does not meet standards MUST be changed or a safety film applied so it passes regulations. We can quote to have the safety film applied or to re-glaze the door. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and for a quote.
The doors are in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age, as expected. One of the lower green glass pieces has a crack but it has not gone through to the embossed side and it is stable. The pine has some knocks and chips and some long surface cracks. One of the rebated inner edges has been knocked and has some light damage. The paint has some chipping and marks and you may wish to sand and re-paint the doors to suit. The hinges have some tarnish. There is some slight paint residue around the edges of the glass. The door heights may need slight levelling. Please see pictures for condition details. The doors have a very pretty appearance and are a fine example of Victorian design and they would make a lovely period feature in a home.
Width of pair 121.5cm approx
Width per door 59.8cm & 60.4cm (excluding rebated edges)
