Dimensions:
A petite, reclaimed, Georgian cast iron fire insert. The insert has a nice design, in a traditional style, with an arched fire opening surrounded by a thick decorative rope border. The fire has its original curved front bars with decorative finial and top plate with a scrolling motif. The insert is of a petite size, ideal for a bedroom, and could be paired with a fire surround. The fire insert is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear. The insert was painted and has been stripped but there is evidence of some old paint, leaving an uneven surface in areas. The iron has been blacked and polished. There is some pitting and casting marks. The back has surface rust, as expected. The fire has a slight wobble when standing as there is a missing piece to one back leg but this should be fine once the fire is fixed in place. The fire brick has a crack but it is stable and solid. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a lovely period appearance and would be a fantastic item for adding character to a fireplace.
