Dimensions:
A very elegant, reclaimed, early Victorian cast iron fire insert paired with a reclaimed painted pine fire surround. The iron insert is made by Coalbrookdale or similar and has a beautiful Gothic appearance. The insert has an arched fire opening that is surrounded by Gothic style mouldings and columns. The fire has delicate leaf and scroll design above the arched opening. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The fire insert is paired with a reclaimed painted pine surround with a simple corbel design. The surround does have some chips and flaking to the paint and it will need sanding and re-finishing by purchaser to suit. The fire is in good reclaimed condition but the iron insert does have some signs of restoration and of age. The front bars and grill are replacements and the smoke flap was missing and a replacement has been made using corrugated metal. There is some slight damage to the bottom edge of the fire, below the front bars. The iron has some casting marks and small scratches. The back of the fire and smoke flap have some surface rust as expected. The surround has some notches out of the back edge of the mantel and there are some splits to the mantel and cross bar. The front edge of the mantel and legs have some knocks and chips. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a fantastic Gothic appearance and will add great charm and period character to a fireplace.
