A reclaimed, reproduction, cast iron and brass fire register / fire basket. The register is a reproduction of period designs and has an elegant and ornate appearance with an Adam style design, often used in the Victorian period. The register retains its original front bars and there is a brass plate at the front with swag detailing. The fire basket has brass feet that stand at the end of shaped brass pieces and there are brass finials on the top of the legs and on either side of the fire basket. The fire register has a thick built in fire back with an urn and bows. There is a reeded fire brick in front of the fire back. The iron has been blacked and polished and the register has a nice finish. The fire register is in good reclaimed and has some signs of use and wear, as expected. There are some small knocks, scratches, pitting and casting marks. There is a crack in the iron at the top of the basket, on the left hand side, where the fire cheek meets the fire back (see picture 6). The left hand fire cheek has a crack but is secure. The brass has some tarnish and discolouration. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire register has a very nice period appearance and it would make a lovely feature in a fireplace.
