A very ornate, reclaimed, combination fire likely to date to the late Victorian era, C.1890. The fire has a beautiful design in the Adam style, featuring an urn and flowers in a panel at the centre of the cross bar and urns in each corner. The legs have tall panels with further urn, leaf and flower detailing. The mantel front and side edges are moulded. The fire retains its original shaped front bars and grill. The top plate was missing and a new metal plate has been made and the front of it sprayed black. There is a fixing lug on each side, under the mantel, for attaching the fire to the wall. The feet have small tabs that can be sunk into the hearth. The fire has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of wear and age, as expected of antique items. The iron has some knocks, casting marks and pitting. There are some larger casting marks along the mantel. The back of the mantel has some damage where a small gouge is present. The fire brick has some wear and cracks but it is stable. The back has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a wonderful example of Victorian design and it would make a fantastic feature for a fireplace.
